News: Hooded crane spotted near G.I. > The Independent

Wow!  Wish I had been fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of this wandering crane!  According to the article this particular crane (a hooded crane) is usually only seen in Siberia and China.  Seems like the fella may have seriously lost his way.

Also, next time I go to Nebraska to photograph the Sandhill Crane migration I want to travel with Thomas Mangelsen.  He's a photographer with a gallery in Omaha and according to him he may be the only person "to have seen a whooping crane, a Eurasian crane, a sandhill crane and a hooded crane up close."  He said he got within 300 yards of the hooded crane.  That's awesome.
